For many of our service event nights, we like to go and volunteer at the People's City Mission's Distribution Center. The Mission does an excellent job of meeting the needs of those in our community. Their Distribution Center is a place where needy people can come and get food, clothing and even furniture. In 2007, they distributed 537,045 pounds of food (bread, produce, fresh meat and canned goods); 318,281 articles of clothing; 12,674 pieces of furniture; and 411,458 household items.
Our service there mainly consists of sorting the donations and helping to organize the thousands of items that people in need can come and get. Here's a map to help you find the center if you're going there to donate items or volunteer your time.
